The 500-strong county prostate cancer support group (KWPCSG) is delighted to welcome Dr. Steve Allen back to Pershore on Thursday, September 12th. at the Wychavon Civic Centre (doors open at 6.30 for a 7.00 pm start).

Steve has been the guest speaker in Pershore and in Kidderminster on a number of occasions over the years, but this will be a little different. Instead of providing members with a presentation on one of a number of core issues affecting many men after treatment for prostate cancer, this will be ‘An Evening with Dr. Steve Allen’ with questions prepared in advance and also on the night from what is expected to be a large audience.

Steve, who was a radiologist at the West Berkshire Hospital in Reading, received a diagnosis of prostate cancer some 16 years ago. Despite having a mildly aggressive form of the disease by today’s standards, he underwent a radical prostatectomy in 2008.

Since his surgery, Steve has become closely involved with prominent prostate cancer charities, including Prostate Cancer UK and Tackle Prostate Cancer. He is a patient representative for Tackle with national bodies such as NICE, the Scottish Medicines Consortium, and the National Prostate Cancer Audit. Through his interactions with countless patients and their families, Steve has gained invaluable insights and shared experiences. He is both proud and humbled to be their voice when it is needed.Though he maintains a medical background, Steve is now always a patient first and a doctor second.

Steve is undoubtedly one of the U.K.’s most passionate and hugely knowledgeable patient advocates. His current aim is to ensure that patients facing similar challenges receive not only appropriate treatment but also the vital support and guidance often lacking in such circumstances.
